Program overview

A science show built for libraries

For 2027's "Mysteries Await at Your Library," the eccentric Professor Buckets takes a detective's approach to bubble science. Why do bubbles float? Why do they pop? What makes a bubble big enough to fit a kid inside? This zany show combines humor, hands-on demonstrations, and amazing bubble stunts — and the Kid-in-a-Bubble finale stays. It's too good to change.

The Professor Buckets show was built for libraries — it connects STEAM learning to storytelling, keeps every age in the room engaged, and ends on a moment that parents will photograph for years.

What happens

From surface tension to the finale

Professor Buckets enters as an eccentric scientist — lab coat, wild energy, and a case full of mysterious equipment. Right away, kids are laughing and leaning forward.

The show digs into the science of surface tension using kid-friendly language and visual demonstrations that make complex physics feel like magic. Bubbles grow inside bubbles. Giant floating spheres drift over the audience. The demonstrations escalate in scale and surprise.

An audience volunteer is called up at just the right moment. Then comes the finale: the Kid-in-a-Bubble — the volunteer is slowly surrounded by a bubble the size of a person, right on stage. This is the moment librarians warn you to have your phone ready.

Educational connections

STEAM learning through bubble science

The Bubble Show is built on real STEAM concepts — surface tension, physics, chemistry, and the spirit of scientific observation. Every stunt has an explanation that sparks curiosity.

  • Introduces the scientific method in a fun, accessible way
  • Promotes observation and curiosity about physics and chemistry
  • Reinforces STEM learning through memorable live demonstration
  • Encourages kids to ask "why does that work?" — the best question in science

For 2027: Professor Buckets investigates the mysterious science of bubbles with a detective's eye — turning the science show into a scientific investigation. See 2027 programming →
